The Lost Sadhanas Project: Green Tara
Those Worthy to Enter Tara's ParadiseWe next move on the adi-buddha Vajradhara, the ultimate source of these teachings.
Today, Green Tara wears monastic robes. She says,
Who is worthy to enter my paradise? Each bodhisattva has standards, things we look for in students and devotees.
Often deities want absolute submission and obedience to rules. This is not what I would require.
First, we want serious seeking of wisdom. There are yogis and seekers who say they want spiritual knowledge, but it is only for show. They collect books but do not read them. They go to spiritual teachers but do not listen to them. Wisdom should permeate the soul, not be worn like a costume.
Next, we value a personal life that fulfills spiritual goals. Actions should be harmonious and dedicated. Life should be peaceful, organized, and pure. One should avoid violence, noise, and chaos. One's environment should be clean and ordered, with the inner life reflected in the outer life. Both should reflect truth and beauty.
Recognition of deeper awareness should be a major goal of life. The person should become transparent to the inner spiritual light, with a heart like a sun. Life should focus on helping others by teaching, writing, or physically helping those who suffer.
Most importantly, those who wish to enter my paradise must believe in me. Those who view my existence as illusory will never have my blessings. It is the height of disrespect to say that I do not exist, to dissolve me into nothing. One must cherish those they love and honor. My devotees are like family.
