The Value of Mysticism
What is the value of mysticism? It is to see the parts of the self that are hidden. It is to expand human knowledge, and to learn about new areas of growth and development. It can rein in the hopes of psychedelic therapists who seek to explore these realms without guidance.
The seeker must learn how the imagination works without being entangled in fantasy, and how creativity works without becoming inflated and proud. The deeper realms of the mind are filled with hidden passions and desires, and it takes skill to navigate that territory.
There are inner bodies and inner lands. These can not be known while the soul is still attached to the physical body. The senses get in the way.
Is there a value to map-making? There is for explorers. Maps can warn of hidden dangers and help the seeker to gain desirable goals. They can give direction to lives that are as aimless as dry leaves in the wind, revealing pathways where none were visible before.
The mystical path is a lighted road through the darkness of the unconscious. The soul is hesitant at the initial exploration, but gains in confidence when the path is well trodden. And when death comes, there is a road for the soul to travel, so that it does not become lost and confused. It can enter the new territory with confidence, happy to travel through and explore new lands.
The human incarnation shows great promise, but it is also a great prison. Many people cannot open the gates and appreciate the surrounding terrain. They cannot open the door.
It requires a different set of assumptions. Maturity is sometimes defined as the recognition of boundaries, and to be considered sane in a culture is to accept the boundaries of that culture.
But maturity and acceptance of social limitations are not the best way to learn new ideas. Life is about change and growth and experimentation. It is a dance of the heart. In acceptance of limitation of learning, the dance is stopped, and the dancer is paralyzed.
It is said that youth is the time of growth and age is the time of decay. But the soul is outside of time, and not limited by such rules. The soul should be learning and dancing until death, when the shackles are removed from the feet. The dance is not limited by time and space.
Mysticism draws the soul away from the pull of darkness to rise into the light.
We next talk about how to reverse creation to find it's source.
